Customised frameworks

Track the talent data that matters to you

Measure any skill, behaviour or experience, and ask any question you need answered. Set different criteria for different roles, and keep it as simple or as detailed as you like.

Your framework, not ours

Off-the-shelf tools give you their skills, their scales and their questions. Useful tracks exactly what your business values, worded the way you'd say it, and gathers it from the right people at the right time.

Track anything you value

Any skill, behaviour or experience, plus your own questions: written answers, rating scales, multiple choice, yes or no and numbers. Group them into areas such as Leadership or Craft, and add guidance so everyone rates against the same standard.

Different criteria for different people

Each career path and level decides what people are rated on, so a sales review can ask different things from a customer service review without running separate processes. Track a few key things for everyone, or set specific requirements for every role type.

The same question, asked the right way

Word a question differently for each perspective. The employee is asked "How happy are you in your current role?", while their manager sees "How happy does Jack seem in his role?". The answers still line up side by side.

Run reviews when it suits you

Run them on fixed dates each year, as a one-off, or on a rolling cycle so each person is reviewed a set number of days after their last review. Choose who takes part with the same rules you use everywhere, such as everyone below Head of Sales or managers only, and see the live count before you launch.

Know who's done and who hasn't

Track completion by department and by person. Managers see progress for their own team and branch, and anyone without a manager is flagged. Reminders chase anyone who hasn't finished, so no review gets stuck.

As simple or as detailed as you like

Track a few key things for everyone, or set exact requirements for every role. Useful is as powerful as you need, and as easy to set up as you want.

In your own words

Name skills and behaviours the way your business talks about them, so every review feels like yours.

Change it whenever you need

Add, archive and reword as your approach changes. Past answers stay intact.

What you can do

Every feature can be switched on or off, so you only use what you need.

  • Group skills and behaviours into areas that roll up in every report
  • Add profile fields, such as start date or location, and use them anywhere
  • Choose which perspectives answer each question
  • Share answers with the person question by question, or keep them private
  • Preview a review exactly as each person will see it
  • Add succession, development and objectives to the same review
  • Print a person's review, or export results to Excel

Questions

Do we need a framework already?

No. If you have one, Useful runs it. If you don't, your HR professional helps you build one.

Can we change our framework later?

Yes. Add new skills, behaviours and questions whenever you need. Questions that already have answers are archived rather than deleted, so your history stays intact.

How often can we run talent reviews?

As often as you like: on fixed dates each year, on a rolling cycle for each person, or as a one-off.

Does everyone start from scratch each time?

No. Everyone starts from their previous answers, so they only change what has changed.

Can employees see their results?

If you choose, question by question. The person sees their manager's answers once the review is complete.
