Employee surveys

Ask the questions that matter to you

Build surveys from your own questions, send them to exactly the people you choose and see the results by team or branch.

Survey results shouldn't live on their own

Separate survey tools leave results in yet another place. In Useful, surveys run through the same engine as your reviews, and the results sit alongside everything else you know about your people.

Your questions

Rating scales, yes or no, sliders, choices and written answers. Reuse questions across surveys. Word each question differently for each perspective, with the person's name filled in.

The right people

Target roles and conditions, and choose whether people answer about themselves, their manager, their peers or their reports. You can also ask named people, such as stakeholders, to answer about someone.

Clear results

Participation, a chart for every rating question and written answers grouped by question, for the whole company, a team or a branch. Headline figures show participation, response rate and average sentiment, and written answers never show who wrote them.

What you can do

Every feature can be switched on or off, so you only use what you need.

  • Preview the survey as each person will see it
  • Run surveys once, on fixed dates, or on a rolling cycle that keeps answers fresh
  • Track completion by department and send reminders
  • Keep peer and report answers anonymous, withheld when fewer than three people answer, or collect them with names
  • Break results down by perspective
  • Use answers in each role's data view, in filters and tables, and on talent maps
  • Choose, question by question, whether the person can see answers about them

Questions

Are surveys anonymous?

Peer and report answers can be anonymous, and they are unless you choose otherwise. Anonymous results are withheld when fewer than three people answer. Answers people give about themselves are not anonymous.

Can we run an engagement survey?

Yes, with your own questions, so it asks exactly what you need to know.

Can we use survey answers elsewhere in Useful?

Yes. Managers' answers can filter tables, target future reviews and surveys, and appear on talent maps.
